1021-011-"Håkon speaks at the assembly to the Trønders" - Premium poster in matte paper in gallery quality with oak/ash wooden frame
Product Description
Drawn by: Christian Krohg, 1899
About the illustration:
"Håkon Adalsteinsfostre was in England when he heard about the death of his father Harald Fairhair. King Adalstein equipped him with men and good ships, and Håkon sailed home in the autumn [934]. In Trøndelag, he sought Sigurd jarl, the wisest in the country, and promised him great power if he became king. They convened a crowded assembly. First, the jarl spoke on Håkon's behalf, then Håkon himself stepped forward. People whispered that it was as if Harald Fairhair had become young again. Håkon asked for a king's name and the farmers' support to hold the kingdom; in return, he promised to make all farmers inheritable landowners and give them back the farms Harald had taken. Then the cheers broke out, and the people of Trøndelag took him as king over all the land. The news spread like wildfire eastward to the Uplands and beyond; farmers sent messages, signs, and promises to become his men. The king accepted with thanks and took a retinue. The picture shows the young Håkon at the assembly site, surrounded by farmers, jarls, and retainers; behind lie ships by the shore. Air and sea sparkle in the background, and the atmosphere carries the promise of a gentler rule."

Our premium framed posters in wooden frames showcase fine craftsmanship. Our natural wood frames are made of oak from responsible suppliers and have a classic design, while the black and white ash frames give a modern touch. The natural wood grain gives each frame a unique character. The poster is printed on our exclusive age-resistant gallery-quality paper. The paper is offwhite, uncoated, and is the preferred choice for art enthusiasts who appreciate world-class quality. The poster and frame are packed separately in a box, and assembly must be done by the recipient. It is easy to put them together – no expertise is needed, and a hanging set is included.
